T-Swift

I’m currently eating mandarin oranges while watching Taylor Swift’s speech at the Grammy’s. I will say that she (as well as Kendrick Lamar, his album was phenomenal) deserved to win album of the year, and she made a great speech about the triumphs she’s had herself as well as every artist. And in such a short time.

“There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, but if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, some day when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there — and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

Now, before someone say’s something along the lines of “Taylor is fake,” “Taylor is the Regina George of the music industry,” “Taylor doesn’t deserve the success she’s been given,” I’m going to cut you off. She achieved those things, and she has continued to achieve every snippet of success she’s had over the last 10 years.

Swift carries herself with grace as much as she possibly can. That is something quite a few people in the music industry (entertainment industry in general) appear to lack. Also, she cares about her fans, she cares about everyone. This is not a one time speech.

Swift has made numerous speech’s before performing songs at her concert, kept her dignity and poise during interviews with radio hosts, talk show hosts, the lot; while anyone that listens is appalled by some of the questions and assumptions Swift receives from people who wish to pry into her life and get lucky because maybe a scandal or new boyfriend will pop out of her mouth.

I just wanted to take a moment to say that she is a great role-model. Anyone who doesn’t take the time to at least look into her roots, her speech’s, interviews, snippets of wisdom, and most importantly the lyrics in her songs, the talent that she possesses, the love and admiration she shows for her fans and those close to her…

You’re missing out. You’re missing the big picture. You’re missing someone who uses her wealth, fame, and lyrics, to reach out to issues more than just a petty relationship or some mean girls from high school.

It urks my soul when one gives an opinion on another human being, or anyone for that matter when they haven’t taken the time to try to get to know them, or when they know absolutely nothing about the topic at hand. It’s important to look at fact’s, it’s important to look at time and effort, it’s important to look at matters of the heart.

My point of the matter is that she has not given up, no matter what is thrown her way, and she’s still around 10 years later when everyone thought she would have disappeared after 3. And neither should you.

Also, add that millions more pressure is added on to her considering millions more eyes are watching her every move? Imagine all eyes were on you, you have millions of people looking up to you, would you want to make one mistake, set a bad example and have it broadcasted all over OR would you rather make a hundreds of advances, set a good example, and not have any of them get a second glance?

I’d hope you would want to do the right thing and persevere, even when times are rough and people try to undercut you.
