Troubling’ Trolls

We need to talk about social anxiety and having a YouTube channel not being related.

They aren’t related.

Stop expecting someone who has a YouTube channel, 12 million subscribers for instance, or someone who’s simply more comfortable talking to a camera than actual people, to be outgoing.

Look, not everyone that has the guts to make jokes and be themselves in front of no one but an electronic device is THAT comfortable with themselves OUTSIDE of that frame.

This isn’t the typical “their human, gosh guys get off their case” scenario either, this is me addressing something I’ve been wanting to for a long long time.

Social anxiety doesn’t influence talking to a camera.

It’s easy to be oneself on camera because of the lack of judgement, the ability to cut out all the awkward or unneeded moments, and it’s an odd but fun thing to do.

When surrounded by people, for someone with social anxiety or someone that knows what it’s like to have a panic attack and fears those moments in a crowd or even family event, for instance, it’s not easy.

Me, sitting in a classroom = Enormously different than me making funny lip-synching videos on snapchat or a YouTube video.

I’m in no way a big influence, at least in my videos but for those that are I see comments like:

“‘I have social anxiety’
Communicates with 12M followers every week. Lol”
or
“She’s 27 years old, what is she doing talking about anxiety and panic attacks it’s gotten old” when she literally seemed to begin the understanding for many on these feelings that are so so hard to describe to someone who’s never experienced one.
or
“Omg, she’s so clearly never had social anxiety, she’s been to a club. She goes to clubs.”
For all that person knows, they could’ve only gone 3 times in their life, and what should it matter? They’re stepping out of their comfort zone, maybe they just wanted to dance, or maybe that’s not a situation that would bring on anxiety when with a person or two they trust.
I myself have received “You’re so different in class, why are you so shy and quiet yet in front of a camera you’re the complete opposite,” more than once we’ll just say as I trace it back in my mind as far as High School even.
I can’t explain why when I’m in front of a camera, or on a stage it’s easier for me to be myself. All I know is that I’m most comfortable there.
Is it awkward if people can hear / see you speaking to a camera though? Hellllll yes.
But as you do it more and more it gets more comfortable. I’m working towards being more comfortable, not even for videos but simply for myself so that I don’t feel like I wasted a bunch of time being anxious in the future.
It’s silly, it’s absolutely and utterly silly why I need to explain the differences between social anxiety and putting ourself in front of a camera, yet it’s understandable.
I believe people that ask why it’s so dissimilar have good intentions, they’re simply curious. But it is most irritating when I’m scrolling through Twitter, YouTube, or spoken to at a family event with people saying mean things about me or others. It absolutely dumbfounds me. People are happy and making steps towards just loving their life, yet are scrutinized for “dwelling” on something they can’t control?
Mind boggling.
Being told “it’s so weird to see you like that on snapchat” or “I didn’t know you could do that” (obviously, this one isn’t as bad because sometimes it truly does feel like I’m Hannah Montana or something- god I sound conceited- I promise, I’m shit) from people that rarely see you, let alone your fun side is painful. But it’s an eye-opener. For them.
Because I, as well as everyone else that battles social anxiety along with the love for their creative, goofy, and in search for fun sides already know it seems odd. Thus, why it helps to speak to a camera.
If a video is posted by a YouTuber, Instagrammer, Snap Chatter, what have you, there’s always the choice on whether or not to read the comments and / or delete the content you put out.
Obviously, it’s nice to be aware or whether or not you offended anyone and it’s important to give an explanation if so, especially quickly, but that’s not due to someone being a horrible person all the time. Sometimes it’s a one-time thing or there is more to a story than someone that glances at it, or half listens to it knows.
Social anxiety and being well-spoken in front of a camera is not being fake, nor is it an invitation for arguments and pity – it’s just two different universes with one human being in common.
Please treat everyone with kindness, especially when it’s hard to understand them.
Love,
Nat

Wonder Woman Will Kick Ass

I have a gut feeling this movie is going to break records.

I have a gut feeling this movie is going to inspire a lot of little girls, a lot of women, and people in general.

This doesn’t strike me as a movie that will only show the good scenes in the trailer just to “get hype.”

It’s apparent to me that this movie deserves the hype due to the fact that it doesn’t’ appear at all to be a let down both in the trailers, and considering the director is also a woman (who may be able to bring a more relatable side of the character to the movie-goers as well).

Today at work, at least 3 times alone (the most I can ever remember in one sole day) I was asked if a man, a boy, anyone besides a female could carry cases of water for a customer. Seriously, this really did happen. Even after I did truck and moved about 200 cases of product, quite a lot of it being heavy.

What I did was at least took it to the counter for the customer. He looked at me in shock, this elderly man, and questioned “that’s not heavy to you?” with eyes practically bulging out of his head I politely said “no, not at all” and smiled.

And no, I’m definitely not the strongest woman anyone will come across, I don’t lift or work out much besides when at work, however I AM in fact able to do it so why the hell should I not?

Afterwards, a man came in to get a propane tank, and before I could grab it off the shelf, he said “no, no, wait I got it” even though I’ve done this at least 50 times… and he did do just that.

I want to mention that I have zero problem if someone (a man specifically in this case) wants to help me, however, if I’m not struggling in the slightest bit, if I don’t mind in the slightest bit, and hell, even if I do mind sometimes; I don’t feel there should be a place where a man says to me “no, you shouldn’t lift that, its too heavy for a woman.”

It is insulting to me, to watch someone else do a job I could easily do, only because they are a male.

I hope the movie “Wonder Woman” –and the fact that it was directed by a woman as well– can inspire as many people as its already inspired me to remind myself I’m a badass woman, when others fail to realize.

I have a really good feeling about this movie, what are you thinking about it? Do you think it’s too hyped up, or are you excited to see what it has in store?

Lemme know what you think 🙂

LET’S TAlK FIFTY SHADES OF GENIUS

Okay, so it’s currently 12:30 AM.

The video came out at 12:00 AM EST time.

I WAS PREPARED IF YOU COULDN’T TELL.

This due to the fact that I haven’t heard new music from Taylor Swift in ages and it was DUE with everything that’s happened in my life lately, this song hits pretty close to home.

Now, I want to talk about the video because I have a theory. I’m not sure what the director meant to do with the changing colors, but I have an idea, hear me out.

So you know that song “red” Taylor Swift wrote for her album “Red” back in 2012 right? Okay, well the album is heart-cuttingly beautiful in the sense that it grabs your soul by the suspenders and feels as if Taylor Swift has just thrown her heart out on the line, and taken all of ours with it.

The song RED has the line:

“Losing him was blue like I’d never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red”

I believe red stands for passion or love.

Green stands for jealousy, although not mentioned in Swift’s song “red,” but has been mentioned on a tour where she describes the color green as jealousy which people tend to do anyhow.

And blue stands for sad and upsetting emotions where you know you need to let go but can’t bring yourself to.

Now, in the video it begins with Zayn coming out of a fancy car in the rain as press jump up his ass to get a photo(figure of speech), and it’s simply him walking through a building facing the casual things (such as photography ninjas) artists sadly face these days.

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-12-09-40-am

As he strolls into the elevator the green begins to change to red as he sings the line “I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home” in Swift’s direction as the camera turns toward towards her and red filters between them before it turns to green right as Swift’s line begins.

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-12-10-05-amscreen-shot-2017-01-27-at-12-10-43-am

“I’m sitting eyes wide open and I got one thing stuck in my mind,” and changes to red as
“Wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life,” is sung–  “oh” the last word being green before becoming a regular camera setting with no mood lighting involved as Swift reflect’s on the nights she’s stayed up restless.

*Entering the room of Zayn is Swift ooo here we go*

Screen Shot 2017-01-27 at 1.08.36 AM.png

Red comes in flashes now as she sings certain words that suggest certain things. If you know what I MEAN. Although it could potentially be nothing like that, but considering it’s a song written for a fifty shade of grey movie…

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-1-30-56-amscreen-shot-2017-01-27-at-1-31-26-am

She pours wine and picks petals off of white roses (a symbol for true love, not red which I thought was the other way around).

“Until you come back home” is sung by Zayn and now the blue appears right before Swift’s line “I’ve been looking sad in all the nicest places”

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-12-12-02-am

They then proceed to reflect on their relationship, Zayn looks to be holding a letter or photographs which he end up tossing across the room while Swift has her moment in the bathroom taring at herself in the mirror most likely thinking “girl what are you doing.”

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-1-05-25-am

Screen Shot 2017-01-27 at 1.11.17 AM.png

“What is happening to me”is when the blue comes into play again, in flashes along with red for less time.

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-12-12-18-am

Zayn is then seen sitting in that sort of crouched position where shit has hit the fan and you feel like crying but you can’t cry sort of vibe as the light flashes blue.

The real kicker is as they sing the line “I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home” repeatedly, light flashing red, normal coloring, and blue. They are turned away from each other in every scene with blue and red suggesting they can’t deal with the emotions which are going haywire.

At the very end, the lights are still flashing red and blue whilst instead of turned away, they are looking right at each other.

Phonecase Love

If you want a great, quality phone case I highly suggest this one from Etsy. Not only because of the new “Beauty and the Beast” film (featuring Emma Watson) coming to theaters soon, but because it’s freaking gorgeous and everyone needs something to protect their phone. Why not use style?

IMG_8485.jpg

IMG_8486.jpgThe one I just received (my first ever purchase on Etsy by the way, not including the countless hours I’ve spent scrolling through it in the past) mirrors a stain glass red rose, on a blue background which seeps into black towards the bottom and around the edges of the case. When looking closely at it there are miniscopic sparkles scattered throughout making it look all the more beautiful too.

With a rating of four and a half stars and 117 reviews, their page is at least worth taking a look at.

Along with this phone case, there are plenty of other options from this seller alone. Even better? There is currently a 24 hour flash sale cutting the price from $19.95 to $11.05– amazing. I suggest running to your laptop or phone now.

Oh, and coolest thing of all– It’s shipped from FRANCE.

The 3 Best Makeup Removers

IMG_8475.jpgFrom left to right: No. 7 Beautiful skin wipes, Simple Micellar water, Lancôme Bi-facial Double Action eye makeup remover

  1. The No. 7 Beautiful skin wipes I discovered in Ulta over the summer, they are made in the U.K. (at the time Ulta was incorporating more U.K. brands into the mix so I jumped on the bandwagon, of course) and these were one of the first things on my list.

They are hydrating, a stretchier, covered material rather than     dry and harsh on this skin. They remove makeup in a swipe and leave zero breakouts.

2.  The Simple Micellar water is one of the first products I ever tried from the brand, and still the reigning champ of the brand in my eyes. I first used it in 2014 (during the summer, once again) and instantly fell in love. Didn’t break me out, can be used without water, and gets off makeup whether using a cotton pad or my hands.

3. The Lancôme Bi-Facial Double Action eye makeup remover is my tried and true, old and blue favorite. I began using it when I was 12, whenever I wore the odd bit of brown eyeliner in middle school– yes, you heard that right. Not even consistent, but random days I decided to line my bottom lashes and not even think to add mascara.

It gives an oily consistencey– I would suggest shaking it up to mix the ingredients. It also provides very little effort in removing makeup, the littlest bit will clean my entire eye, that is with mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eyebrows, highlight, foundation, etc. A little goes a long way, it can be used on more than just the eye are of the face, it smells amazing and clean, your face will feel like a baby’s bum after using it. It’s flipping amazing.

If you have tried any of these products, please let me know what you think of them, I love them and all opinions are my own and nothing has been sponsored (just in case I get a doubter) or embellished. I freaking love all of these, they have reserved spots in my heart forever.

Thanks for reading! ^_^

Love,

Nat ❤

Beauty and The Beast

Beauty and The Beast is one of my favorite Disney films of all time.

Belle is no ordinary princess, she was not born into royalty nor whisked away by a handsome prince. She learned to love the prince for who he was, not through is appearance or what he could give her.

Before the beast stumbled into her life (I am going off the animation version, not the original tale of Beauty and The Beast) where she was considered “weird” yet beautiful by people in her town due to the fact that she read books. Her family also didn’t possess a lot of money, so spoiled is in no way a word to describe Belle.

As always, Belle does her thing and goes about her days, passing the time with a book or talking to her father about his inventions whilst Gaston continues to bug her and ask for her hand in marriage, that conceited son of a b–

Now, with the trailers coming out of the new “Beauty and the beast” live action film set to take place in theaters come March 17th (St. Patrick’s day fellow Irish– keep in mind, I only have partial Irish in my blood) it is easy to investigate the differences through the animated film and the soon to be aired, live action movie.

I’m not gonna lie, I can already tell lumiere is going to bother me during the entire film because he has two separate legs instead of a candlestick base. :’)

I’m still giving the movie a chance regardless of all of these changes (Of course, they’re attempting to make the movie into real life and it is difficult, hence the need for digital animation and autotune) but so many of these things really didn’t need to be altered??

I mean, chip as another example. I imagined him to be cute, not scare me with his eyes…

beauty-and-the-beast-chip

I’m trying my best to keep an open mind, and I am still incredibly excited for it, but come on. That auto tune is insane.

The auto tune is however noticed prominently more on certain areas of the song rather than the entire thing, which isn’t detrimental.

The reason I love the musical movies (rent, les miz, but les miz especially because a lot of their scenes tended to be live rather than recorded and added to the film making it more raw and emotional) is due to the reality of the situation it delivers rather than pre-recorded or seen on a stage where a lot of the emotions aren’t picked up in facial expressions because they are so far away. Including films that are simply films until the addition of music (because music is something that everyone can understand and feel regardless of language or any sort of barrier between people).

Don’t even get me started about the dress, please. But, seeing the entire blue dress– I felt better about it than originally when there was only the image of the collar and I was just not having it haha.

emma-watson

I imagined it to look like this fan-made (sorry, not sure who created it) image:

b2acf7c151def73ead76335e2714b1fa

As for the winter dress, I wish the puffy hood was still a thing, although the new dress is stunning as well.

Made by toughtink on Instagram. I absolutely love her dress.

I don’t mind the beasts’ horns much, although wouldn’t it have been easier to keep them short like in the animation? Just throwing that out there.

I’m so excited for the movie, I’m sure everyone else is as well, it’s just a few changes we need to get used to even if we would go about them a different way. Although I’m not so sure I could forgive what they did to Chip and Lumiere, time will tell though.

If you envisioned any aspect of the movie to be different, please let me know what and how you would alter it. Also, If your super thrilled for the movie to FINALLY be released, please mention that too. 😛

Wait

If you’ve gone through a breakup, a troubling friendship, any situation where you have been wronged and there is no paranoia involved or thoughts of you being the bad guy because you know there was zero way. Fact…

You need to be patient.

That jerk is going to message you, call you, email you, what have you… whether it’s 2 days time, 2 months time, or 2 years time they are going to realize they messed up.

They are going to ask for you back, or ask to be friends. Maybe they are lonely or whatever side project they had didn’t work out for them… whatever the case, don’t disrupt your own life to play along.

That chapter of your life is over.

It feels like absolute hell, I know.

And your going to want to message them right away and go off because you don’t deserve to be treated in such a way, I know.

But be patient.

Don’t sit around waiting for them to attempt to redeem themselves— or you. What you need to do is block them or unfriend them at least for a little while to clear any uneccesary garbage from your life that they may throw at you out of the blue.

It is hard to move on, but after a little while (different times for everyone) it gets easier.

You don’t believe me now, but please trust me when I say wait.

And follow your intuition.

Love,

            Nat💖

That day

I’m sorry I’m so rubbish at talking. I wish I didn’t feel this empty hole as you are sat one row behind me. This is the epitome of embarrassing– an embarassment no one else can feel but the one experiencing it.

I wish I could rewind to my freshman year and stop myself from uttering words I didn’t mean. Words that had no ounce of truth–the one thing I understand Journalism to be based on.

You seem happy now– and I’ve never wanted to make you feel anything less, I hope I didn’t back on that day. You deserve every bit of success I know your going to achieve in the future. Now, you’re gone. You’ve just walked out of the door with your love, and you’re moving on to greater things.

I’m glad I got to know you for a speck of your time. Does your father still wear clogs? I’ve attempted to muster up the courage for the past month now– to say anything pertaining to the day that I regret most.

I let an old friend go, one I had pushed away with words for him I had not aimed. I wish you the best– I know you’ll find it. I wish you could read this– but I know you never thought to see it.

Love,

             Nat💖

We call this reality

Everything in books and movies is better. The reason it’s better is because we know their future or the beginning plot of the story, however in our lives we have no damn clue of where we’re going or what’s going to happen.

It’s comforting to watch an anime or a movie, knowing even if that scene was literally taken and drawn exactly from real life, it still managed to look better in an anime or fiction realm.

Why? Because it’s comforting to relate to other people’s lives in a story and hope that it ends up being in ours.

It comforting to know we can live many different lives from the perspective of one life we call our reality.

And most likely than not, the stories we grow attached to are the ones with happy endings.

Examples (no photos are my own, they all were found on Google):

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream with super 7 complex Review

This face cream is amazing.

I bought mine at Sephora, but it can also be purchased at Nordstrom in the Michigan area or if you have one of those around you.

I was in the market for a new moisturizer as my old one I had bought twice before and wasn’t quite doing the job I needed it to anymore; decided to give this one by Fresh a go. It does smell of cucumbers, so if you’re not a fan of that sent I wouldn’t suggest picking it up.

I myself am not a fan of cucumber, but I love what the moisturizer makes my face look and feel like. I find it a win rather than a flop.

Pros and Cons:

Pros: Makes skin appear radiant and glowy ( I LOVE this), lightweight, anti-aging (I know you’re all most likely shouting at your screens now because I’m only 20, but I wanted to try it so shh please), Made in France (I put this here because one day I wish to live there), doesn’t fall out of the pot if turned upside down, comes in a jar so you don’t have to squeeze the product out of the tube.

Cons: Strong scent of cucumber (personal preference), No SPF, extra product around the rim of jar (can’t think of the technical term for it at the moment), an incredibly long name (I added this for kicks).

I hope you all enjoyed this little review!

P.S. Let me know what moisturizer you use, and if you have any recommendations do let me know!

Love,

Nat
