All for Galifornia

Ever since I randomly stumbled upon the new blush by Benefit on an Australian website,”Galifornia” has been on the top of my list- because I knew it was one that I’d fall head over heels for. Galifornia is the absolute reason I splurged a bit today…

I went to Ulta, and I went to a corner store afterwards (mainly to pick up some mucinex for my mom who has a cold; keep away from sneezers people it’s cold / allergy season).

And yes, I did take these photos outside. 🙂 The best lighting is there, and today was a nice day anyway’s so psh if you judge me.

Onto the things at Ulta:

1. Soap and Glory ‘Clean on Me” shower gel.

2. Soap and Glory Super cat liquid liner pen (which slightly terrifies me, but less than the super cat fat liquid liner unless I was going for a thick liner look which I rarely do) in “jet black”. Still a hard-core dollywink eyeliner fan. 😉

3. Benefit Cosmetics “Galifornia” Blush. Fun spin on California, which I’m hoping / wishing to go to in June for VidCon. I’ve read some reviews on it that mention the golden overlay disappearing after 5 swipes and while that’s most likely true, I still felt the need to buy it. It looks like summer, it smells like summer, it simply reminds me of summer. Plus, Coralista my all time favorite blush ever to exist which always comes from Benefit reminds me a bit of this by glancing at it. Not entirely sure if it will resemble it all but either way I have a gut feeling I’m going to love it. ^_^

Onto the things at the corner store:

  1. Herbal Essences Body Envy shampoo
  2. Herbal Essences Body Envy Conditioner
  3. Revlon Eyelash Curler (my old one was soooo overused that I threw it out a month ago and haven’t used one since)
  4. Curad Bandaids just because I’ve always wanted to try these and what better a time to buy some when someone needs one and there are none in the house.

That is the mini look into what I bought today!

Hope you enjoyed reading, do you know of anything I should keep my eye out for make-up wise, hair wise, book wise, or all sorts of wise?

Love,

Nat 💖

Garnier Girl Now?

This is the garnier whole blends shampoo in “honey treasures.”

It is specified as a repairing shampoo which intends to help with split ends and damage (very much needed for me). It smells like magic, and the cap is adorable and pretty secure despite the leave imprint on it causing it to be slightly nerve wracking if traveling with it. Yet, it’s cute and fits with the natural theme of the line like a gem.

I’m not a major fan of Garnier, it is one of those drugstore brands I haven’t been able to get behind because of past experiences with the brand making my hair appear greasy or breaking out my face.

BUT, I am in love with this shampoo. I have been eying it for a month or so now, the entire wall which is a sea of different scents with different aspirations for people’s hair– and I decided to dive in too.

It was between the “honey treasures” and the “mythic olive” one because I found the scents most appealing.

I have used the “coconut oil and cocoa butter” leave-in-conditioner back in the summer, which smells AMAZING.

It smells so so good, and I’m going to give credit to my cousin for discovering it.

The garnier hair care line ranges from $3.47 – $6.29 in price, which is a pretty rad deal when it comes to shampoos.

My other drugstore favorite would be the Pantene volume range although some have noted it isn’t the best for hair because the shampoo etc. causes buildup eventually thus creating volume, etc. But, my hair always came out looking bomb.

I decided to step out of my comfort zone (entirely) and try out this garnier whole blends shampoo, I am so not disappointed.

I plan on trying the olive (woo I’m actually so excited) one too.

Beauty and The Beast

Beauty and The Beast is one of my favorite Disney films of all time.

Belle is no ordinary princess, she was not born into royalty nor whisked away by a handsome prince. She learned to love the prince for who he was, not through is appearance or what he could give her.

Before the beast stumbled into her life (I am going off the animation version, not the original tale of Beauty and The Beast) where she was considered “weird” yet beautiful by people in her town due to the fact that she read books. Her family also didn’t possess a lot of money, so spoiled is in no way a word to describe Belle.

As always, Belle does her thing and goes about her days, passing the time with a book or talking to her father about his inventions whilst Gaston continues to bug her and ask for her hand in marriage, that conceited son of a b–

Now, with the trailers coming out of the new “Beauty and the beast” live action film set to take place in theaters come March 17th (St. Patrick’s day fellow Irish– keep in mind, I only have partial Irish in my blood) it is easy to investigate the differences through the animated film and the soon to be aired, live action movie.

I’m not gonna lie, I can already tell lumiere is going to bother me during the entire film because he has two separate legs instead of a candlestick base. :’)

I’m still giving the movie a chance regardless of all of these changes (Of course, they’re attempting to make the movie into real life and it is difficult, hence the need for digital animation and autotune) but so many of these things really didn’t need to be altered??

I mean, chip as another example. I imagined him to be cute, not scare me with his eyes…

I’m trying my best to keep an open mind, and I am still incredibly excited for it, but come on. That auto tune is insane.

The auto tune is however noticed prominently more on certain areas of the song rather than the entire thing, which isn’t detrimental.

The reason I love the musical movies (rent, les miz, but les miz especially because a lot of their scenes tended to be live rather than recorded and added to the film making it more raw and emotional) is due to the reality of the situation it delivers rather than pre-recorded or seen on a stage where a lot of the emotions aren’t picked up in facial expressions because they are so far away. Including films that are simply films until the addition of music (because music is something that everyone can understand and feel regardless of language or any sort of barrier between people).

Don’t even get me started about the dress, please. But, seeing the entire blue dress– I felt better about it than originally when there was only the image of the collar and I was just not having it haha.

I imagined it to look like this fan-made (sorry, not sure who created it) image:

As for the winter dress, I wish the puffy hood was still a thing, although the new dress is stunning as well.

Made by toughtink on Instagram. I absolutely love her dress.

I don’t mind the beasts’ horns much, although wouldn’t it have been easier to keep them short like in the animation? Just throwing that out there.

I’m so excited for the movie, I’m sure everyone else is as well, it’s just a few changes we need to get used to even if we would go about them a different way. Although I’m not so sure I could forgive what they did to Chip and Lumiere, time will tell though.

If you envisioned any aspect of the movie to be different, please let me know what and how you would alter it. Also, If your super thrilled for the movie to FINALLY be released, please mention that too. 😛

Getting Used to Contour

I’m not one for contouring…

The first ever bronzer/ contour (I know they are two separate things) I owned was the too faced chocolate soleil bronzer in milk chocolate back when it was the old packaging. I loved it, it smelled like chocolate, therefore I had to have it for Christmas.

I was a sophomore in high school at the time, pretty new to makeup in general. I didn’t really know how to use it, so it wasn’t something I clung to in my everyday makeup routine and soon fell out completely.

Bronzer is the closest thing I’ve ever gotten to contouring or “tanning” my face. Definitely isn’t a necessity for me though.

But, one night a couple months ago I saw Dani Mansutti using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in a YouTube video and I thought “what is that gorgeous palette?” Especially the banana shade which to my hearts content is actually called “banana.” Score.

So, I did my research, found it on Sephora, picked it up at the shop, and since then I have been pretty in love with this thing.

From left to right: Vanilla, Banana, and Sand
From left to right: Java, Fawn, and Havana

Vanilla: can be used as a powder, highlight, eyeshadow

Banana: a highlighting powder, especially good for under the eyes to cancel dark circles

Sand: a highlighting powder

Java: a warm mocha contour

Fawn: light brown contour

Havana: a warm red based contour

All of the shades are highly pigmented. It’s simply amazing.

In my opinion it is worth the $40 because it has many different uses besides contouring.

This palette’s shades can definitely be used as eyeshadow too.

I just love this thing, let me know what you think of it! 🙂

My hair

At one point my hair was dark (natural hair) like this.

Then, in the sun it would look like this.

You may be thinking “okay cool what’s the point…” or, if you’ve been following me for a bit you might think “why the heck did she change it?!”

To put this in perspective: here is a before and after– this was right after the change.

Here is a more recent look at what my hair looks like, except a side view of the before and after.
Was this intended when I got my hair done back in July? No.

But, am I going to roll with it for as long as I can, yes.

I’m not rebellious, I’m really not. Here and there as a teenager I would get a bit snippy, but rebellious? Nope.

I never dyed my hair (apart from a few highlights once a year or two basically), I never got a piercing or had a secret tattoo… I just sort of did my own thing.

I think the worst thing I’ve ever really done is been on my iPad (rip iPad) for too late and eventually that became a bad habit that I’m still dealing with today. Sleep is not my friend, it’s “the one that got away,” if you will.

Is my sleep schedule something I’m working on though? You bet.

The point of this blog post was to say that sometimes things just aren’t going to go your way. And even though it seems like this is how it will be forever, it won’t.

People are constantly changing, life is constantly changing, years from now all your going to have are memories of what was and whatever is ahead in the future…

While I don’t want to be just another name from a hundred years ago one day, I also don’t want to pretend that I’m going to be someone spectacular that everyone remembers, if that is most likely not the case.

But, I know that I am the only me and I have complete freedom to do what I want. And while I know half of the time things don’t go as one plans, it’s important to sometimes just accept it, give it some time, and focus on yourself and where you’re at in the moment.

In this moment, I am in school, working, a smidge heartbroken but recovering, and, blonde by accident.

Now, I know this is a random list and there is very little detail, but sometimes you don’t want to give the bad days the spotlight.

So, I’m going to leave on the note that I’m indecisive on simply letting my hair grow out, dying it back to brown (ah dye I don’t like this stuff), or keeping my hair up in a hat for a little while.😅

It is soon winter after all. ❤️

Thank you for reading my random post 😄

OOTD and hair

My outfit was a cropped red American appeal sweatshirt  coupled with an old pair of black jeans from Pacsun and white converse. Here’s a goofy side view.

Here are my shoes ❤️Here is my face. These are a few photos from the other day… Just so you know my hair is still a work in progress.

This drastic blonde was not at all the intention, it was originally supposed to be a natural Balayage and along the lines there must’ve been a miscommunication between me and the hairstylist because this truly shocked me when I looked in the mirror. But after a couple months of growing it out, it has turned into a bit of an Ombré effect which I don’t mind.

It’s safe to say I won’t be doing much of anything at all to my hair for a while…

I’m learning to love it though!

Thanks for reading,
